Pediatric Eye Exams

Even if no eye or vision problems are apparent, the American Optometric Association recommends scheduling your baby’s first eye assessment between 6 and 12 months. At this examination we test for excessive or unequal amounts of nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. We also check for eye movement ability or eye health problems.

These problems are not common, but it is important to identify children who have them at this young age. Vision development and eye health problems are easier to correct if treatment begins early.

Children should be seen before age one, again at age three, and beginning at age five, should see an eye doctor each year to be checked for amblyopia (lazy eye), color vision, and binocular vision—in addition to having their basic eye health assessed.

In August 2020, Dr. Armstrong opened Eyestrong Pediatric Eye Care. This new clinic, located on NE MLK Jr. Blvd, is designed specifically to offer a quality eye care experience for children. Click on the logo below to visit their website and schedule an appointment for your child today.
